Welcome Baby Samantha!

We are very excited to announce the arrival of the newest member of our family-Samantha. She is a wonderful happy baby. We look forward to a few weeks off and then introducing her to all the daycare kids. Big sister is missing all her daycare friends and asks to see them everyday.

Birthday Fun!

We celebrated Holly's Birthday today and Adam's. She and Adam share the same birthday- just a many years apart! Fun Fact: they are the oldest and the youngest in my care right now. The kids made crowns and paper birthday hats. They also made and decorated birthday cards for Holly and Adam. It was fun to sing happy birthday twice! The cupcakes were a messy delight- love the blue tongues and noses!

Movie Field Trip

This summer we have been going to the AMC Theater for the Summer Movie Camp on Wednesday mornings. They show movies that are out on DVD but the kids love seeing them again in the theater. The dollar admission goes to charity and the kids get popcorn, soda, and fruit snacks at a reasonable price too.

The kids love the coloring contest as well. Each week we get the coloring sheet to enter for the next week. Unfortunately we don't get the coloring sheet back and so it finally dawned on me to take pictures of them before we turned them in. Last week, 6 of the 8 kids won prizes- including one grand prize of a DVD movie. This week 5 of the 8 kids won prizes- two grand prize DVD winners. The selection process is by age and by theater (the movie is shown in multiple theaters). The winning entries are hung on the wall at the theater.
The kids are very excited to work on their pictures each week and they have been fantastic at the movie theater. I really enjoy watching them sit so nicely during the movie each week.

Travel Tots Tuesday

The kids explored the Ocean today. They learned about ocean fish, shells and creatures. They played games and made their own aquariums. They really loved playing scoop the fish. They were very fascinated with the shells- the colors, shapes, and sounds they could hear. It was a fun hands on, interactive class.

Vacation Bible School Photos

Sorry I forgot to post the VBS photos from June. I should have taken a few more but was a little busy supervising my group of preschoolers. The kids had a great time! It really was a privilege to take eight kids to VBS. It is awesome to hear them sing the songs they learned and talk about the fun things they did. The mornings started out with a worship rally- singing songs and learning the verse of the day. Then they were off to arts & crafts, recreation time, bible study time and snack time. It was great that it ran Monday through Thursday. On Wednesday the kids were able to play in bounce houses- there were three to choose from.

Happy 4th!

Our fun project this week was Tye-dyed patriot t-shirts. We have fun making red, white, blue and yellow shirts. Then we added flag iron-ons to make them even more fun. The kids love making t-shirts. The dye can be messing but we make them outside and cover up with a plastic smock and wear plastic gloves. The dye comes in squirt bottles and the kids have a great time squirting their shirts. It is great to see how they turn out.

Preschool Field Trip- Nature Center

Tuesday the preschool kids went on a field trip to the nature center. They attended a presentation on frogs. It started with a fun puppet show and they were able to touch a toad and a tree frog. They learned about the differences between frogs and toads and heard the sounds they made. We also enjoyed the exhibits of turtles, frogs, snakes, moths, and the butterflies. We also went to the pond to look for frogs but they were hiding because of the cool weather. It was a unique learning opportunity for the kids.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs

We spent a week studying bugs. Several of the kids were expressing fear of bugs so we thought it would help to have some fun with bugs. We read books about bugs, listened to bug sounds, made our own bug collecting jars and bug magnifying glasses. We even watched the Bee Movie. The week ended with a "bug hunt" in the yard. The kids loved collecting their many legged friends!
